1. How long will it take to get my oral appliance?
- Typically the turn around time to hear back from your medical insurance after you come in for a short office visit is 2-3 weeks. After that the scan of your teeth and bite is submitted to the lab to fabricate your oral appliance which takes an additional 3 weeks. In total you can expect 6-8 weeks from the time of your office visit to the appliance delivery appointment
2. Do I get a warranty?
- Normal wear and tear as well as any manufacturer’s defect is covered under the manufacturer warranty. If you lose the appliance, break it or have any major dental work such as implants, extractions and crowns this is not covered under the warranty and will require a portion of the fee for a replacement.
3. Will the oral appliance change my bite change?
- Every morning you will use a mouth guard called an AM aligner to reset your teeth and jaw back to their normal position. Typically the AM aligner is only worn for 10-15 minutes and this helps to prevent bite changes. Prolonged use of the oral appliance without the AM aligner can cause bite changes which may need to be corrected with clear aligner therapy such as invisalign or with braces.
