High Resolution Pulse Oximeter

High Resolution Pulse Oximeter

This is a multi-night High-Resolution Pulse Oximetry (HRPO) study using the SleepSat at home high resolution pulse oximeter device. This report demonstrates the measurable improvement in sleep-related breathing when using our custom oral appliance for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) management.

Our patient completed two nights of testing:

  • Night 1: Without oral appliance therapy
  • Night 2: With oral appliance therapy in placeKey findings include:
  • Respiratory Disturbance Index (RDI) improved from 25 events/hour to 5 events/hour
  • Oxygen Desaturation Index (ODI) improved from 23 to 2
  • Minimum SpO₂ increased from 73% to 87%
  • Cycling Severity and Airway Instability also showed marked improvement

These results clearly illustrate the therapeutic benefit of oral appliance therapy in reducing respiratory events and improving oxygen saturation.

At Essex Dental Sleep Center, we use the HRPO system to monitor patient progress objectively, both before and after appliance delivery. This allows us to collaborate more effectively with referring physicians—including pulmonologists, cardiologists, and primary care providers—to optimize patient outcomes. Once the patient’s HRPO results are titrated the patient is sent back to their physician for an official repeat at home sleep test.
